upper division
Upper division was a time where I was able to delve deeper into passions that I had such as social justice, climate change, and navigating how to become a better reader of the news. This was also a time where I could take the abundance of skills that I learned in lower division and begin to put them into practice.

I gained a heightened sense of self during this time because many of the things that interested me before this time, I did not have much knowledge about. The courses that I took during this period of time turned my interests into deep passions that I continue to learn and talk about with other people.

Here is an assignment that I did discussing how to use primary sources in a history lesson. This was a great opportunity to gain skills in looking for primary sources for my own classroom.
This paper is a letter written to Trevor Noah himself discussing the issue of unpaid maternity leave. I mailed this to him in hopes that he will talk about it on his show!
Skills I learned in upper division
-
I learned more about the climate crisis and about sources to help me learn more about how to continue to educate myself and others.
-
How to become a better reader of the news, and I acquired a wider lens of the world.
-
How to be an activist and stand up for people who often do not have people who do so.
-
How to use my voice and knowledge to teach others.
-
How to use my critiques on society to make alternative changes to my life and give tips to others.
This is just one of many of my New York Times news reports from the months of February and March 2021. This is when I found my love for reading the news!
This is my "In an Instant" essay that I wrote in my "Literacy Language and Pedagogy" course. This class helped me discover that I have some skill and passion in writing.
This is a response paper for my LIBS 320C course where we discussed the master and servant relationship in the modern day world. I chose this paper because in this class our responses were very structured, compared to many non-structured papers in lower division.
